Yoga and Life Coaching Bariatric Support Group

yoga bariatric support groupI love working on new concepts to make bariatric support groups available to the public. I believe that we lack support as bariatric patients. We need more of it and more often. Bariatric surgery doesn’t just mess with your anatomy; it messes with your mind.

Your attitudes towards food and eating will change after bariatric surgery. At no time of the year is this more evident than during the holiday season. That’s why I’ve partnered up with Abby Lentz, of HeavyWeight Yoga, an Austin staple, to run a unique support group for five lucky bariatric patients.

Details on our yoga bariatric support group

Our bariatric support group will combine a yoga workout with a group life coaching session. We have six dates scheduled from now until the 10th of December. We begin on October 15th at Abby’s home studio. The group runs from 7:30 – 9pm on:

  • October 15, 2018
  • October 29, 2018
  • November 12, 2018
  • November 26, 2018
  • December 3, 2018
  • December 10, 2018

To sign up, you can email me at We still have four spots available as of right now and hope to have a full house. You will then receive a pre-support group survey. We ask you to fill it out so we can make use of your suggestions and prepare accommodations appropriately. You must be healthy enough to engage in yoga to be a part of this bariatric support group.

All you need to bring is yourself and a healthy attitude

You do not need any materials. They will be provided to you. Just wear some loose clothing, be prepared to engage and to sweat a little. We’ll have fun. We’ll dish about the holidays and how to cope with them as a bariatric patient and discuss mindset so you can get through anything.

Abby and I are here for you. We want you to succeed. Abby’s approach to yoga creates body awareness while encouraging size acceptance. You can do yoga at any size. Abby is living proof of it. She’s got an amazing energy and working with her is such a treat. I, on the other hand, am going to be a little more demanding of you. I am compassionate and kind, but I will trust that you are there to work on your issues and improve. I will help hold space for you so that you can come to awarenesses on your own.

I am happy to work with people one on one during the group or after. Just contact me for details. We are considering running a sister group in January to help bariatric patients keep their New Year’s Resolutions. Feel free to share this information with everyone you know.
